Autistic Representation I Want To See
I have a bone to pick here, because the representation of Autistics in the media is grossly limited and there are certain things I really want to see, but haven’t (yet).

One of the bigger pieces missing in both reality and fiction is Autistic parents and/or adults. Autism is hereditary; if not the parents, then a relative must be Autistic too (or at least it’s highly likely that is the case). Except, I never see it.
I only see the Autistic child and the struggling allistic parents that don’t know what to do. Even in A Kind of Spark, two of the three sisters are Autistic, but neither of the parents are. Now don’t get me wrong, A Kind of Spark was amazing for Autistic representation and I absolutely loved it. However, if you take all the (new and old) token ‘Autistic Kid’ episodes in tv shows (HouseMD, 9–1–1, Criminal Minds, etc.) the parents are completely “normal,” when truthfully that’s not the case.
I also see this in real life.
I have a post titled: Autism Resources Masterlist, where I collect helpful articles, videos, and resources on Autism. I also accept submissions and have had several people reach out to me and request I add their resource/article to the list.
