I call these “life lessons” but I suppose they can also be “things I had to accept/learn/acknowledge” after being diagnosed with Autism.

Learning that I was Autistic led to a plethora of emotions: happiness, relief, fear, grief, and more. I spoke about this in my last post: I was Diagnosed with Autism 3 Years Ago, Here’s What I’ve Learned.

After the intense emotions subsided there were a few new facts of life I had to contend with. Things like the world is made by and built for neurotypicals and not for a neurodivergent Autistic like myself.

Or that others are going to have a hard time understanding me and my differences because so little is known about Autism within the general population.

This post will cover these two lessons, along with eight more as outlined below.
