I only wish there was some manual

To this thing that lies beneath my rib cage

A way to read the feelings

That can’t make it to my brain

And plaster themselves as thoughts

So I could try to understand

How broken and yet connected

The strings really are

I only want to know

How I have come so far

And how I can keep going on

Because it’s only my heart

That never makes sense

All these emotions

And yet I only see dreams

That can never come true

This poem is from my upcoming book, Tomorrows. Tomorrows is a collection of poetry written between 2017 and 2018, while I struggled with depression, anxiety, and — unknown at the time — Autism.
