Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism
Recently I read Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism by Richard D. Wolff. The book covers the events, problems, and solutions that occurred in past economic crashes. It then goes on to propose the solution: WSDEs or Workers’ Self-Directed Enterprises.
Basically, it means bringing democracy to the workplace first, where it can then spread and be implemented into local communities. Everyone has a say, a vote, a voice — rather than companies being run by a board of directors who are not actually on the ground doing the work.
Reading this book, I definitely learned a thing or two about America’s economic and political history — and how it so closely resembles and yet differs from Canadian history.
